|Hi, my name is Melanie! |
I have been singing and dancing since the age of three, training in jazz, tap, contemporary, character, acrobatics and classical ballet. At the age of sixteen I landed my first professional singing gig with Adelaide two piece pop duo "Hoo Ha" and have been singing at various establishments across Adelaide for the past eight years. Some highlights include working at Alice Springs and Darwin Casinos, and Skycity Casino, Adelaide. I also have extensive experience in stage work, having competed in various state dance competitions since the age of six. When I was sixteen I flew to Sun City, South Africa to compete in the International Drill Dance Championships with the Australian Drill Dance team.
Musical theatre is a great passion of mine and I have always loved being up on the stage. I have worked at the Nighttrain theatre restaurant as a lead singer and at the Viva Function Centre in Adelaide as a lead singer/dancer in a featured cabaret act. I have also worked in an "ABBA" tribute band and in a three girl floorshow act titled "Blondeshell".
After finishing high school I studied Jazz music at Adelaide University and completed my Certificate IV in Jazz - specializing in voice.
During the day I work as a mental health program officer, having completed a Psychology degree in 2005. I love my job, but my heart lies with the theatre, singing and dancing up a storm on the stage!
