About me
Angharad, born in Vienna in 1983 into a musical, Austro-Welsh family, first took to the concert stage at the tender age of eight years when she gave an informal recital, in which, among other items, she sang Mozart's "Alleluja". She joined the Choir of the Bachgemeinde Wien at the age of eleven and remained their youngest ever member until she left the choir in 2000. Since then she has regularly appeared as a soloist, performing works such as Bach's Johannes-Passion, the Requiems of Mozart, Brahms and Faure, Pergolesi Stabat Mater, numerous Bach cantatas, Mozart's Exsultate, jubilate and most recently, in June 2010, Handel's Messiah at the Wiener Konzerthaus.Operatic performances have included scenes from The Turn of the Screw (Governess, 2006), The Consul (Anna Gomez, 2007), Der Rosenkavalier (Sophie, 2008 and 2009), and Don Giovanni (Zerlina, 2009).
For the recital platform Angharad has devised programmes on various themes, e.g. a recital of night songs entitled "Nacht und Träume", a programme featuring folksong-settings in five languages (including Welsh and Hungarian) and a recital entitled "Poetic metamorphoses", juxtaposing different settings of the same poems. Her latest recital project is a Shakespeare inspired programme, including songs from six centuries, which she presented to the Viennese public at the Bösendorfer-Saal in October 2009.
She is receiving her vocal tuition from Susan Dennis and has recently completed with distinction a degree in Musicology at the University of Vienna, with French as her minor subject.
